TANYA SELVARATNAM (tselvar@aol.com) is an artist and activist. She works with the World Health Organization and is a Board Member of the Third Wave, a U.S.-based organization and foundation for young women. She is also a performer and independent film producer. An associate of The Wooster Group, the Soho multimedia group, Tanya can be seen in The Group's award-winning production of "House Lights" which has toured the U.S. and Europe. In 1999, she was a member of the 10-person Acting Company of the Institute on Arts & Civic Dialogue (based at Harvard University) under the directorship of Anna Deavere Smith. Tanya last collaborated with Merry Conway and Noni Pratt on the 1998 production of A Woman’s Work is Never Done and is thrilled to be working with these courageous and creative women again. Tanya has taken her own solo shows to Boston, New York, Portland, San Francisco, Washington D.C., Toronto, and China. Her letters, poetry and short stories have appeared in a number of print and Web publications, and she is currently at work on a collection of short stories. She completed her undergraduate and graduate studies in Chinese Legal History at Harvard University. Born in Sri Lanka and raised in Long Beach, California, Tanya now resides in Brooklyn, New York.
