Project Description

TOO CLOSE TO HOME was first mounted (April - May 1994) in New Bedford, MA in conjunction with the City of New Bedford, MA and UMASS Dartmouth. Developed over three years, the piece was brought to completion by work with local people during our month’s residency in New Bedford. It explored the complex relationships between daughters and fathers. It was housed in downtown New Bedford’s bank deposit building, a 7,000 square foot space that had been abandoned for 10 years, and was then to be renovated to house an art museum for New Bedford.
